Applies to vehicles: with Audi hold assist
When the Audi hold assist function is on, the vehicle is automatically prevented from rolling away while you are at a standstill.
Audi hold assist helps the driver if the vehicle is stationary for a long period or very often, for instance at traffic lights, on steep gradients or in stop-and-go traffic.
Switching on Audi hold assist
Important: The driver's door must be closed, the driver's seat belt buckled and the engine running.
To switch on the Audi hold assist function, press button -B- WARNING!. The LED in button -B- will light up.
Stopping with Audi hold assist
Once it detects that the vehicle has stopped, Audi hold assist keeps the vehicle stationary. In this case, a green indicator lamp lights up in the instrument cluster. You can now take your foot off the brake pedal.
Drive off in the normal way: the brake will be released automatically and the vehicle will start moving.
Switching off Audi hold assist
Press button -B- to switch off the Audi hold assist function. The LED in button -B- will go out.
In certain situations, Audi hold assist transfers the job of holding the vehicle to the parking brake. As soon as the parking brake is holding the vehicle still, the warning lamp appears in the instrument cluster.
WARNING!
The intelligent technology in Audi hold assist cannot defy the laws of physics. Do not let the extra convenience afforded by Audi hold assist tempt you into taking any risks when driving – this can cause accidents.
  • Audi hold assist cannot keep the vehicle stationary in all conditions on a gradient (e.g. if the road is slippery or icy).
  • Audi hold assist must be switched on again each time the engine is started – Risk of accident!
  • Never get out of the vehicle when the engine is running and Audi hold assist is switched on – risk of accident!
  • Always ensure that the vehicle is stopped properly and safely to avoid injury to yourself and others.
Caution!
Switch off the Audi hold assist function before driving the vehicle into a car wash.
Note
  • Automatic gearbox: When the Audi hold assist function is switched on, it stops the vehicle from creeping forwards when you take your foot off the brake pedal.
  • In certain situations, Audi hold assist cannot hold the vehicle. The LED in button -B- will go out.
